During 3 days of July 2013, we held another GTTP workshop in the northern city of Antofagasta, Chile.  The locale was a middle school, Escuela F-96 Libertadores de Chile. The workshop was organized by Vilma Tapia, the school principal, Carmen Jimenez, Universidad de Chile, and Sergio Cabezon, GTTP coordinator in Chile.  It was funded by a generous contribution from the local municipality.

I think you can see that we all had some fun playing with balloons and other objects as we learned about parallax, brightness-distance relationships and scale models of the solar system.

Sunday afternoon a small group of us headed north of  the city to view a beautiful natural landmark, La Portada, just off the coast.  We also visited the human-made landmark which identifies the location of the Tropic of Capricorn
